Info

The Ki47 presents the prefecture trees of the 47 regions of Japan. Each tree species was defined by the prefectures themselves as a symbol of the region with the help of public votes. In the museum, visitors have the opportunity to get to know each of these trees and their characteristics in form of life-like replicas and photographs.

Design

Drawing inspiration from the visual identity of Oishi Market, Ki47 features a bold palette of red and deep blue balanced by a warm cream tone, capturing a distinctly Japanese aesthetic.

The name Ki47 carries a symbolic connection to Japan’s culture and landscape. The word “Ki” (木) means “tree” in Japanese, representing growth, nature, and balance—core elements often reflected in Japanese design philosophy. The number 47 refers to Japan’s forty-seven prefectures, uniting the country’s diverse regions under one harmonious concept. Together, Ki and 47 express a blend of natural symbolism and geographic completeness, capturing the essence of Japanese identity that inspired the project
